U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow will deliver remarks during the 50th Anniversary Fight for Freedom Fund Banquet hosted by the Greater Grand Rapids Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Friday, Oct. 21.
The theme for this year’s dinner is “Emancipation” in honor of the 1863 signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. The event starts with a reception at 6 p.m. at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids – International Ballroom, 235 Louis St. NW. The program and dinner start at 6:45 p.m. with the feature speaking being Aja Brown, the mayor of Compton, California.
