7th Annual Sparta Celtic Festival kicks off Aug. 12

The free-entry Sparta Celtic Fest has evolved into one of Michigan’s largest festivals, thanks to the growing community support and hard work of the local committee members that organize the event each year.

men in kiltsThis year, festival-goers will enjoy even more acts and activities — another entertainment stage has been added, as well as carnival rides, a Celtic military encampment and an extra evening of events. That’s in addition to Celtic vendors, Hugh Irwin (The Kilted Magician), Highland games, bagpipers, drums and the High Tea House (featuring Celtic teas and pastries).

Headlining band, Blackthorn is a top Irish vocal group in the Midwest, anchored by Belfast, Ireland native Richard McMullan. They perform Saturday at 6 pm on the Main Stage.
