As the ongoing pandemic has continued to postpone or cancel large events, the West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA) has added a series of virtual travel expos to help travelers plan for safe travel and recreation during 2021.
WMTA will host four virtual expos this year, each targeted to a specific group of travelers, including camping & outdoor enthusiasts, golfers, women & familes, and general West Michigan travel interest. These topics were chosen based on the most popular categories visited on WMTA.org as well as previous travel expos and show attendance.
Visitors to each expo’s webpage can find information to help plan their 2021 travels, as well as sign up to receive a free copy of this year’s Carefree Travel Guide and enter to win a variety of prizes from around West Michigan.
“With fewer opportunities to connect in-person at travel expos this year, we decided to reinvent the format so we can provide this information to people online,” said WMTA’s Executive Director, Dan Sippel. “We’re especially focusing on the types of travel and recreation that will help travelers feel safe, such as camping, golf, and outdoor recreation.”
The Virtual Camping & Outdoors Expo is currently running on WMTA.org and the WMTA Facebook page, with the Virtual Golf Expo planned to launch on March 8 followed by the Virtual Women & Family Expo March 22, and concluding with the Virtual Travel Expo on April 5.
