Take a cruise through the Soo Locks and around Soo Harbor, all while enjoying appetizers and drinks. It’s for a great cause.
The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society announces its first Sea Chanteys and Shipwrecks Fundraiser on Thursday, August 25th. This event features the popular Great Lakes Balladeer Lee Murdock (leemurdock.com), and his songs of the inland seas. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit ongoing historic restoration of the Whitefish Point Lighthouse Keepers Quarters, located at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum historic campus on Lake Superior.
This event will begin at 5 pm in the pavilion waiting room at Dock # 1. Lee Murdock begins his music with the boarding of the Soo Locks Cruise Boat at 5:45 pm, and departure at 6:00 pm. Cost of this event is $50 per person, which includes drinks, appetizers aboard and a full dinner. The cruise will include transit through the Soo Locks, a cruise around Soo Harbor, and weather permitting, Lee Murdock continuing his performance on the upper deck.
Tables aboard may be reserved for parties up to eight, with several tables available for parties of six and four. Credit cards are accepted when making reservations; the vessel is limited to a full group of 70. Tickets can be purchased online, or by calling the Shipwreck Society’s administrative offices in the historic Weather Bureau Building at Locks Park in Sault Ste. Marie, at 906.635.1742.
