Registration for Youth Summer Programs is open! Check out what exciting opportunities ACT has to offer.

 

Open to children in early childhood programs, K-12, and in transition programs. Offered to special education classrooms, inclusion programs, and/or classrooms looking for an inclusion opportunity. All youth programs are taught by professional

 

 

Art of Gardening

 

In this six-week class, students will learn to plant, grow, and harvest their own produce. In addition to tending to the garden, the program also includes a visual art project to beautify the space, as well as a culinary arts lesson in which students will use what they’ve grown to assemble a seasonal recipe.

  • When: Tuesdays 5:15-6:15pm; July 9 – Aug 13
  • Location: Carrier Street Garden in the Creston Neighborhood,
  • Ages: 10-15
  • Cost: $60
Key Dates:
  • July 2 — NO CLASS
  • July 30 — Site visit to Urban Roots: 4:30-6:30pm
  • Sept. 10 — Annual Community Harvest Party: 5-6:30pm at Carrier Street Garden

Family Fun Night at Frederik Meijer Gardens

 

Frederik Meijer Gardens is opening their doors to ACT families for a night in the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden for FREE. Family Fun Night will allow families with kids of all ages and abilities free reign to explore all that the garden has to offer, including the Treehouse Village, Great Lakes Plaza, Rock Quarry, Storytelling Garden, and a butterfly maze! Spaces are limited, register here to reserve your spot!

  • When: Wednesday, July 17, 5-8pm
  • Location: Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
  • Cost: FREE!

Private Guitar Lessons

 

An ACT teaching artist will meet you at your home or at the ACT studio as you hone in on your own personal guitar skills. Sessions are one hour and are scheduled to fit your needs. Students must have their own guitar.

  • Time: One-hour sessions
  • Location: ACT Studio or your home
  • Ages: 6-15
  • Cost: $140 for 4 lessons; $210 for 6 lessons; $280 for 8 lessons; $350 for 10 lessons

Open Studio

 

Each session will have crafts planned, but all participants are free to create whatever their artist heart desires. Participants are welcome to bring friends of any ability.

  • When: June 12 and Aug. 14, 6-7:30pm — *No July Open Studio
  • Location: ACT Studio
  • Ages: All ages
  • Cost: $10 per session (caregivers and guardians are free)
