Luck be a lady as Barn Theatre presents ‘Guys & Dolls’

guys_and_dolls_Opening June 21 at the Barn Theatre – “Guys & Dolls”! A sure bet for the whole family! Roll the dice on this winning musical comedy running through July 3.

“Guys & Dolls” tells the story of a gambler, Nathan Detroit (played by Guest Star Robin Haynes) who runs a “floating” crap game, much to the dismay of his long suffering fiancée of 14 years, the Hot Box night club singer, Adelaide Adams (portrayed by Brooke Evans.) To raise the money to pay for a venue for his crap game, he bets $1,000 on what he believes is a sure thing. Sky Masterson (Barn leading man, Eric Parker), a high rolling, suave gambler boasts that he could have any girl he wants. So Nathan bets him that he can’t get the local Save A Soul “mission doll,” Sarah Brown (Hannah Eakin) to come to dinner with him. Confusion, mayhem and hilarity ensue as gangsters, singers, sinners and saviors collide in this fable of Broadway that is sure to entertain your whole family!

Based on short stories written by Damon Runyon with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, “Guys & Dolls” is considered by many to be the perfect musical. With a brassy, knockout score including “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” “Fugue for Tinhorns,” “Adelaide’s Lament” and “Luck be a Lady” made famous by icon, Frank Sinatra. “Guys & Dolls” was first performed on Broadway in 1950, next made in to a film in 1955, and had Broadway revivals in 1976, 1992 (Starring Barnie Tom Wopat) and 2009 (with Barnie Lauren Graham in the role of Adelaide.)
