Local child welfare agency, D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s (DABSJ), is hosting a virtual backpack drive for their clients. The drive will benefit over 400 kids who are served in DABSJ’s foster care, residential treatment, and counseling programs.

This year DABSJ has partnered with Sydney Paige Foundation to host the drive online in order to limit face-to-face contact due to COVID-19. Donors can select and purchase a prefilled backpack that is sent directly to the agency. The online drive ends on July 27.

To participate in the virtual backpack drive visit dabsj.org or visit the drive webpage here.

DABSJ is in need of the following:

  • 100 Grade K-2 Backpack Kits
  • 100 Grade 3-5 Backpack Kits
  • 200 Grade 6-12 Backpack Kits

“Kids need our help now more than ever,” said Jim Visser, Chief Advancement Officer of DABSJ. “A new backpack will help them start the academic year with confidence and excitement, no matter how the school year will look.”
