Kent County special committee invites applicants for soon-to-open Sheriff position

With the announced retirement of Kent County Sheriff Larry Stelma, the county has formed a Kent County Sheriff Appointment Committee and is looking for applicants for the position. The individual appointed by the committee will hold the position through Dec. 31, 2020.

 

According to an Aug. 14 statement from the county: “Those wishing to be considered for appointment to the vacancy created upon the retirement by Kent County Sheriff Lawrence Stelma must submit a cover letter and resume” which must be received by the County Clerk no later than Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m. Submissions may be made via hand-delivery, U.S. Mail, courier or e-mail.

 

The statement continues: “Applicants bear all risk associated with their choice of delivery, including untimely delivery, electronic transmission errors or delays, or courier failures. Candidates may confirm receipt by the Clerk by calling 616-632-7640. Please note the interviews of any selected applicants will be conducted in an open, public meeting.”
