KDL Uncorked returns this fall with two tours, a local distillery and a meadery

The Kent District Library’s popular KDL Uncorked program continues this month with a couple of different tours.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. there will be a tour and talk at Gray Skies Distillery, 700 Ottawa NW. The tour will include a tasting and behind the scenes look at the process of creating spirits. On Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 5 p.m. will be a Mead Tour at Arktos Meadery, 1251 Center Ave. SW. This tour, which requires pre-registration at www.kdl.org, will look at how mead is made and have a tasting event.

Also on Wednesday, Oct. 11, there will be a “KDL Uncorked: Ladies Night” at the KDL East Grand Rapids, 746 Lakeside Dr. SE. There will be a wine tasting provided by The Crushed Grape and chocolate and cheese tastings will be provided by The Cheese Lady. During the program, participants will learn about wine pairings and how to create their own. The program is from 6 – 8 p.m.

KDL also will be hosting a special event “Geeks Who Drink” Quiz on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Atwater Brewery, 201 Michigan St. NW. If you possess encyclopedic knowledge about “Seinfeld,” can recite Sonic Youth’s entire discography in chronological order, or you want to impress your friend by showing off your otherwise useless knowledge, then this event is for you. The program runs 7 – 9 p.m.

All of these programs are for adults, 21 and older. For more information or to learn more about other KDL programs and events, visit www.kdl.org.
