Holland Home announces leadership changes

Doug Himmelein

As part of a two-year senior leadership succession plan, today Holland Home announces that human resources leader Doug Himmelein has been promoted to executive vice president, human resources, and operations and Sarah Radler has been promoted to director, human resources.

Himmelein joined Holland Home in 1997 after serving as an intern for the organization and has handles various human resources and organizational development roles, most recently as vice president, human resources. Radler joined the organization in 2012 as an intern and has served various human resources roles since. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in health care systems administration from Ferris State University.

These moves are the final pieces of a planned transition plan hinged on the October announcement of president and chief executive officer Mina Breuker retiring after 23 years serving the region’s largest and most diverse senior services nonprofit. Breuker, 64, will step down January 1, 2022, at which time current chief operating officer Troy Vugteveen will assume the president/CEO title. Breuker will transition to president emeritus for three months, allowing for a smooth transition within the chief executive office.

Ensuring smooth transitions and successions between executive leadership roles has been a constant for decades at Holland Home.

“The transition of these recent moves has gone very well, and the main reason for that is everyone was already part of our family, knowing and living our mission,” said Breuker. “We are well positioned for the future with a strong, wonderfully-prepared executive team.”
