Grand Rapids Public Museum and GRAAA partner to offer free telescope class

Do you, a family member, or a friend have a budding interest in amateur astronomy? Do you want to encourage the interest but do not know where to begin? The Grand Rapids Public Museum (GRPM) is teaming with the Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association (GRAAA) to provide assistance on how to pick out the right telescope this holiday season.

 

Join GRAAA members for How to Pick the Right Telescope for Christmas to learn how find the perfect gift. The class will include advice, timely for the season, that is applicable any time of the year. This vividly illustrated, hands-on seminar is free and open for all ages, taking place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 11, at Schuler Books, 2660 28th St. SE.

 

Participants will learn about telescope options, as well as be able to examine and manipulate several types of starter telescopes. GRAAA will introduced key factors for buyers to be aware of in order to make a satisfactory purchase.

 

Led by Greg Comegys, GRAAA members will provide guidance and answer often asked questions. Those who already own telescopes but are experiencing difficulties or considering an upgrade are encouraged to attend.
