Friend of the Court schedules public comment session for Tuesday

The Friend of the Court Community Engagement Task Force wants to hear from area residents so it will be hosting a public comment session Tuesday, April 18, at 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Ottawa Hills High School, 2055 Rosewood Ave. SE.

The Kent County 17th Circuit Court oversees almost 40,000 orders for child support each year. While the vast majority of parents make their child support payments, may do not. During this listening session, the Community Engagement Task Force wants input on the child support system on such topics as what can be done to improve the system to increase the number of parents who comply with child support orders and how should the system respond when parents fail to pay support.

Custodial and non custodial parents, care givers, and organizations engaged in strengthening families and children are encouraged to attend the event.
