Byron Center takes it all as the group ABBA tribute group Arrival from Sweden performs at the Van Singel Fine Arts Center May 3.

 

ABBA is Sweden’s biggest music export ever, with more than 370 million records sold. Among the Swedish band’s famous hits includes “Dancing Queen,” “Knowing Me Knowing You,” “Take a Chance on Me,” and “Mamma Mia,” which later became the title of the stage production and 2008 film starring Meryl Streep. ABBA disbanded in 1982.

 

After a resurgence in interest in the band’s music from such films as “Muriel’s Wedding,” tribute groups such as Arrival from Sweden formed. Arrival from Sweden was founded by Sweden’s Vicky Zetterberg in 1995. The ABBA tribute band has toured more than 35 nations and has appeared in several TV and radio shows.

 

Reserved seats for “The Music of ABBA” are $42.50 for adults and $22.50 for students (high school and younger.) The Van Singel Fine Arts Center is located at the east end of the Byron Center High School complex, located at 8500 Burlingame SW (84th Street and Burlingame Avenue) in Byron Center, just 1.5 miles west of US-131. The Van Singel features free, easy parking and curbside handicap parking is available.
