Be sure to check out SouthPrize 2026, a one-day art competition under the ArtPrize umbrella, celebrating local artists while encouraging residents and visitors to explore businesses throughout Southtown’s six business districts.

SouthPrize takes place from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, in the following Southtown Corridor Improvement Authority districts: Alger Heights, Boston Square, MLK & Eastern, Madison Square, Seymour Square and South Division.

A variety of activities will happen at Hub07, located at 1534 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, including an art expo, live screen printing, live performances, break dancing, and more.

Look for the SouthPrize sign in each district, then hop on a free trolley or bus to tour participating venues. Transportation will run approximately every 15 minutes. After viewing the artwork, guests can vote in person only at Hub07 for their favorite artist.

“Our goal is for everyone to experience the art, support local businesses, and enjoy a fun-filled day throughout the Southtown community,” said Nina Thompson, SouthPrize Team.
