One person is dead and another injured by gunshot during the early morning hours today, Aug. 31. At approximately 4:13 a.m., Kentwood Police responded to the 5700 block of Kalamazoo Ave. for a report of shots heard.
Prior to officers’ arrival, two people were transported by private vehicle to area hospitals, where one was pronounced dead. The second person sustained a gunshot wound and is being treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
No one is in custody at this time. The incident appears to be isolated, and there is no known threat to the public. Kentwood Police remain on scene investigating the incident.
Kalamazoo Ave. is currently closed southbound between Gentian Drive and Christie Ave. Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
