The City of Kentwood is pleased to welcome Peter Vanderberg as its new Deputy City Administrator.
Vanderberg joins the City from the Village of Spring Lake, where he served for the past three years, most recently as Assistant Village Manager. In that role, he helped lead a major park redevelopment project and supported a variety of community development initiatives.
Prior to his career in local government, Vanderberg served six years in the U.S. Army. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Grand Valley State University.
“Peter’s experience leading people and projects with his commitment to public service will assist our leadership team to convey vision and completion to the goals of our community,” Mayor Stephen Kepley said. “We are excited to welcome him to the Kentwood team and look forward to the expertise and perspective he will bring as we continue serving our community.”
As Deputy City Administrator, Vanderberg will support the City’s daily operations, strategic initiatives and organizational priorities while working alongside City leadership, staff and community partners to advance projects and services that benefit residents.
“It is an honor to join the City of Kentwood and contribute to the important work already underway across the community,” Vanderberg said. “The new Community Center and the City’s continued investment in parks and infrastructure make this a meaningful time to come aboard. I look forward to working with City leaders, staff and community partners to support these efforts and help Kentwood continue to thrive.”
Vanderberg officially began serving as Kentwood’s Deputy City Administrator on Aug. 3.
