There are several opportunities to volunteer at Blandford Nature Center.
Harvest Festival Oct. 12, 9am-4pm
Join us for our annual celebration of autumn with classic festive fun. Activities include candle-making, wagon rides, scarecrow-making, rope-making, historic building interpretation, and fall crafts. Enjoy this beautiful fall day volunteering at various stations throughout the property. Go here to sign up.
Eco-Stewardship Work Days, various dates
Eco-Stewardship work focuses on habitat restoration, trail maintenance, stream clean-up and removal of invasive species (like buckthorn, privet and honeysuckle) on several sections of our 264-acre site. Education is always a major focus of the day as volunteers learn to identify and manage plants that may be growing in their own backyards, their schools or city parks and how those plants and their volunteer efforts directly impact their surrounding environment. Go here to sign up.
This volunteer option is for individuals or groups that would like to attend an open volunteer event, like Eco-Stewardship Work Days, without becoming a registered Blandford Nature Center volunteer. Please keep in mind that while a Volunteer Application does not need to be completed, you will still be required to sign a Liability Waiver at these volunteer events.
Pioneer Open Cabin — Oct. 19, 10am-2pm
Join us for an Open House in our Historic Pioneer Log Cabin. Take a step back in time, help with daily chores, enjoy a hands on craft/activity, learn the pioneer way of life, and there may even be a tasty snack. This program is open house style so please arrive at your convenience. Pre-registration is highly encouraged.

Wigwam Open House — Nov. 9, 10am-2pm
In honor of Native American Heritage month, join us for storytelling, Anishinaabemowin language lessons, drumming, songs, and much more. We will have Native American craft making in our Learning Lab, cedar tea brewing in our outdoor Cauldron, and Anishinaabemowin language lessons in our schoolyard.
This program will celebrate and feature members of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, and the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Native Americans. We hope you can join us for this rich experience of Native American culture and history.
