Camp Greenwood
Greenwood Ministries Association of Gowen, Michigan is kicking off its Million Dollar Capital Campaign to raise funds to purchase Camp Greenwood from the Presbytery of Lake Michigan. This opportunity to purchase the 70-year-old camp will enable the nonprofit organization to preserve the camp for future generations.
The Capitol Campaign will kick off Feb. 1 with an online campaign fundraiser. The Greenwood Ministries Association board would like to invite the press and public to an open house on May 16, 2020 to showcase the splendor of spring at the camp.
As more camps throughout Michigan are closing, it is imperative to save this piece of natural land in West Michigan where children come to learn about the environment and commune with God. Through this Capital Campaign, the camp will ensure this unique part of the West Michigan environment is protected.
Greenwood Ministries Association has two years to raise one million dollars to purchase the 100 acres, which includes a year round retreat center, 10 cabins, caretaker’s cottage, outbuildings, wetlands and access to the Woodbeck chain of Lakes in Gowen, Michigan.
This important work of raising funds to buy the camp can only be done through generous donations from supporters. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, separate from the Presbytery of Lake Michigan, there is the ability to grow this camp and update existing buildings including a new roof for the dining hall, and other important capital improvements.
Camp Greenwood provides a safe place for life-changing experiences and outdoor activities. The camp seeks to strengthen the bond between campers, their parents and local churches, by helping campers to take what they have been taught and put it into practice.
