The Dewey-Wedgwood House at Beckmaze – Wyoming’s oldest secret.

Dewey Wedgwood home at Beckmaze, 2551 Oakland SW, in Wyoming, will be open to the public Saturday, July 9, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The 3.5-acre historic parcel is located just north of Buck Creek, west off Byron Center Avenue. Enter the property either through Abundant Life area or on Oakland. The property is at the very west end of these two driveways.

Beckmaze Historical Society is struggling to continue this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to keep the oldest home in all of the Grand River Valley still standing on its original foundation since 1834.

The group seeks members, sponsors, funding, workers, anyone willing to donate their time, talent, and treasure to continue the restoration of this home to become a teaching museum. Non-electronic crafts such as spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, carding wool, candle making, wood carving, rope making, crochet, knitting sewing, etc. will be taught by artist craftsmen who have already expressed their willingness to share their talent with anyone who wishes to learn.

Saturday, July 9, from 10 am until 2 pm, is your opportunity to view this very historic home and acreage free of charge. No program, no food or drink. Just stop in and learn more about this wonderful opportunity to preserve yesteryear for our future generations.

Donations are greatly appreciated but not required.
