Fair Housing Center of West Michigan to host 30th Annual Fair Housing Luncheon & Workshop Series

Each year the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan hosts an annual conference to celebrate “Fair Housing  Month” and highlight important issues of housing opportunity by featuring nationally known speakers with content-rich workshops on a wide variety of fair housing topics, leading into a keynote luncheon presentation.

 

This year’s keynote speaker is Wade Henderson, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. The Leadership Conference is the nation’s premier civil and human rights coalition charged by its diverse membership of more than 200 national organizations to promote and protect the civil and human rights of all persons in the United States.

The Fair Housing Center of West Michigan is a private, non-profit organization established in 1980 to eliminate practices of housing discrimination and promote diverse open communities through education and advocacy. The Center’s education and enforcement-oriented programs are designed to further Title VIII of the 1968 Civil Rights Act, also known as the Fair Housing Act. The Fair Housing Center works to eliminate housing discrimination based upon the federally protected categories of race, religion, national origin, color, gender, familial status and disability status as well as the state protected classes of age and marital status. The Center also works with municipalities to enforce local fair housing ordinances protecting sexual orientation and legal and verifiable sources of income.
