Expect an Evening of Homeric Theater with Julian Sands, ‘A Celebration of Harold Pinter’

Julian SandsYou may recognize British actor Julian Sands from such films as A Room With A View, The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo, The Killing Fields and at least 100 more films, so you know this guy has serious chops. In 2005, Nobel Prize-winning playwright and poet Harold Pinter approached Mr. Sands to prepare a set of Pinter’s poems for special presentation in London. The collaboration evolved into this humorous and fascinating solo show—A Celebration of Harold Pinter—directed by John Malkovich. Expect an evening of Homeric theater with an extraordinary actor, great words, and an audience. Devoid of pretension or glittery trappings, A Celebration of Harold Pinter gets to the soul of the man—poet, playwright, husband, political activist, Nobel winner, mortal. A Celebration of Harold Pinter was nominated for a 2013 Drama Desk Award. Mr. Sands will be performing at Hope College as part of its ‘Great Performance Series’ (GPS) on Jan. 29 at 7:30 pm at the Knickerbocker Theatre (86 E. 8th St., Holland, MI 49423). Tickets are $18 for adults, $13 for seniors and free for Hope students who have ID. For tickets, call 616.395.7890.
