Event to raise awareness about depression and depression research set to take place at Van Andel Institute

Carol Van Andel, executive director of the David and Carol Van Andel Family Foundation will host an informational luncheon to discuss leading advancements in depression research and treatment options with doctors and experts in the mental health field Thursday, April 13 at the Van Andel Institute, 333 Bostwick Ave. NE.

 

Also scheduled to make presentations at the luncheon, which will be from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., will be Dr. Lena Brendan from Van Andel Institute, Dr. Erc Achtyes, from Pine Rest, and Dr. Elizabeth Kowel, from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

 

This event is designed to facilitate an open and honest conversation about depression, leading advancements in the field and insight into new treatment options and patient care. Attendees will learn how to help family members or friends with depression. Local experts will share the latest research and news about treatments and how to better understand the signs and symptoms of depression. Following the presentation will be a question and answer session with the doctors.
