THE CLASS:
“Old-versus-New, and The Judgement of Paris”

3-5 pm @ Grand Rapids Downtown Market
435 Ionia Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, MI

Join the Downtown Market’s Sommelier and a few special guests for a wine-tasting and class on wine history and the battle of California-versus-France. You’ll taste through eight wines (with snacks, of course), while learning about the history behind the infamous “Judgement of Paris”, which helped cement California wines into international fame. Learn what makes a world-famous wine “world famous”, and explore exactly what the “old-world” versus “new-world” characteristics are that make up your favorite wines.

THE MOVIE:
Bottle Shock
5:30 pm @ UICA
2 Fulton St W, Grand Rapids, MI

Paris-based wine expert Steven Spurrier heads to California in search of cheap wine that he can use for a blind taste test in the French capital. Stumbling upon the Napa Valley, the stuck-up Englishman is shocked to discover a winery turning out top-notch chardonnay. Determined to make a name for himself, he sets about getting the booze back to Paris.
