AV Imagery & The Commercial Use of Drones in West Michigan event is May 19

drone big oneIf you have been considering adding a drone service to your business, or if you have a need for a commercial drone service provider, this first-of-its-kind in West Michigan event is for you.

Hosted by the West Michigan Film Video Alliance (WMFVA), this program will provide an overview of the regulatory, logistical and safety concerns for using drones commercially. The current status of FAA regulations, drone types, and the planning process for using drones on a project will be discussed. Participants will hear a recent case study, and local drone operators will be on hand to demonstrate different flight platforms and to share about their commercial services.

Presenter Carl Rocheleau, Chief UAS Instructor, Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City, brings a deep level of knowledge and insight about this developing field and speaks with a great deal of practical experience. Northwestern Michigan College is in the top 10 schools in the nation with a UAV program — and among the few emphasizing flight training and commercial application development.

Brandon Dexter, Independent Producer/DP, Grand Rapids, will share his recent experience with hiring a drone crew to work on location — with all the challenges of getting a drone to do cinematic work.

This program is valuable for media creators and professionals in other fields looking to use sUAV services for either image or data gathering. It is a unique opportunity to learn about this rapidly emerging field and to meet qualified sUAV service providers currently working in West Michigan.

There will be time before and after the main presentations to network with the presenters, media professionals, sUAV operators, and professionals from other disciplines.

The event is free but attendance is limited.
