7th Annual West Michigan Chalk Art Festival moves to Tanger Outlets mall

This year’s West Michigan Chalk Art Festival promises to be even more colorful and creative than years past. The event has been moved from downtown Byron Center to Tanger Outlets mall, 350 84th St., Byron Center, MI 49315. The Byron Community Wellness Foundation sponsors the event.

On Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18, explosions of color and vitality will bring the community of West Michigan together. Artists are invited to display their creativity and imagination, and kids, adults, families and businesses will all create their own art using chalk.

For those who are not in the know, participating artists create vibrant works of art in 6-by-6-foot squares. There is serious prize money for the winners:

1st Place – $1,000

2nd Place – $500

3rd Place – $250

4th Place – $100

People’s Choice Award

Public Vote – $500

1st Place – $100

2nd Place – $50

3rd Place – $25

Artistic

Best Team/Family – $100

Best 3D – $100

Best Photo

Rendition – $100

Most Humorous – $100

Best Use of Color – $100

Best Use of Wellness Theme – $200

Bring the whole family, your friends, and neighbors. Participate as an artist or just walk, view and experience the art at your feet. Come out for some fun in the sun, face painting for the kids, and many other activities. And of course, an opportunity to let loose and create!
