Here’s something you may not know: the Alma Highland Festival and Games celebrates its 49th year May 27-29 on the campus of Alma College in Alma, Mich.
You may well ask, “What, pray tell, does the festival offer?” And we would answer: Plenty. It’s a big deal. Huge.
There will be bag pipes — lots of bag pipes. And competitions like the U.S. Open Pipe Band Championship and the Piping and Drumming Competition. Jazz bands. A street parade. Country dancing. A Border Collie exhibition. An arts and crafts show. Pickleball and volleyball tournaments. Scottish apparel, souvenirs and food will be available for purchase. And you’ll have the opportunity to witness some brawny lads competing in Caber Tossing, Put the Stone, Tug of War and more.
