2020 Hempy Keyboard Series tickets now on sale at Saugatuck Center for the Arts

Saugatuck Center for the Arts 2020 Hempy Keyboard Series tickets are now on sale with season passes and individual tickets available.

 

Grab the Season Pass and save: Purchase the season pass of five performances for the price of four. Available through Jan. 25, 2019.

 

And new in 2020, the Saugatuck Center for the Arts is proud to partner with the Gilmore Keyboard Festival to bring their young Artist, Maxim Lando to the SCA.

Elizabeth Clark, Jan. 26th

Canadian pianist, Elizabeth Clarke is an award-winning performer, teacher, and scholar. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Alberta Department of Music, and a Master of Music in piano from the University of Victoria.

 

She currently teaches at Bradley University and is completing her doctorate in piano performance as well as a second master’s degree in music theory from Michigan State University. Her academic research has focused on Canadian music and that of French Romantic composer Louise Farrenc.

Haysun Kang, Feb. 9th

Internationally acclaimed pianist, Haysun Kang, is recognized for her performances of elegance with a wide palette of colors.

 

She has performed at concert venues throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, appearing extensively in solo recitals, chamber music concerts and as the soloist with major orchestras. A native of Korea, Kang earned her Bachelors degree in piano performance from Seoul National University. She received her Master of Music degree from DePaul University and Doctor of Music degree from Northwestern. She is currently a faculty member of Loyola University in Chicago. Haysun Kang’s playing has been described by the international press as “magnificent” and having “immaculate technique and flawless dexterity”.

Jason Stoll, Feb. 23rd

Southern Californian pianist, Jason Stoll, has garnered many praises and awards for his performances throughout his career. “…Stoll played with passion and power in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18 – bringing a standing ovation…” (Nick Smirnoff – Tehachapi News.) Mr. Stoll is an international piano competition finalist, a lover of chamber music and member of ACE Trioso, and has performed with the genre bending trio, Take 3. Mr. Stoll holds degrees from California State University – Northridge, the Juilliard School, and the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He has served on the faculty of the Bronx Conservatory of Music and is currently a piano instructor and lecturer at California State University – Northridge.

Bob Milne, March 8th

Bob Milne may be considered the best ragtime/boogie-woogie pianist in the world. At the conclusion of three days of interviews, being filmed and documented for future generations at the Library of Congress, he was declared a National Treasure. Mr. Milne is an active Musical Ambassador for the United States Department of State. Playing worldwide in concert halls since 1991, Milne averages 250 performances every year. His list of music festivals appearances is extensive and includes the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Eau Claire Ragtime Festival, Sacramento Ragtime Festive, plus many others. He is highly sought after for both his incredible piano playing and easy going, modest presentations.

Maxim Lando, Gilmore Keyboard Artist, March 8th

The SCA is thrilled to partner with the the Gilmore Keyboard Festival to present their 2020 Young Artist, Maxim Lando! Maxim is a 16 year old pianist who loves to make people smile. His passion for classical music has already set him on an exciting path of performing. Maxim’s most recent accolade is the prestigious 2020 Gilmore Young Artist Award, presented every two years to single out the most promising of the new generation of U.S. based pianists, age 22 and younger. Dedicated to making classical music accessible to his own generation, Maxim Lando has been featured on international radio and television programming. He first received international attention in 2017, appearing to perform the parts intended for Lang Lang’s injured left hand at Carnegie Hall’s Gala Opening Night; Chick Corea joined them for an unprecedented three-pianist version of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
